New here

Post by TJDukit82 »

So I'm new to the Bronco II world sort of. I have an '89 B2 stock back in Oregon that I will be going bring it back here to Utah in a couple weeks. I bought it back in '02 and shortly after the engine blew up on me I cracked both heads on the 2.9l and there was a hole in one of the pistons the size of my pinky. I was able to get a used motor for it which is a 2.8l out of a '78 mustang II not exactly a great motor but it was free and it ran. The truck hasn't run since I put the motor in I just didn't quite have the mechanical know how to do it at the time. Luckily things have changed and hopefully it will be up and running this summer. I have a Ford 9" and a Dana 30 lined up for it and should have access to the springs I'm gonna need to lift it a few inches. So I will update on my progress as I go along.
And on the 8th day God created beer.

So I got the bronco here surprisingly all the electrical stuff still works the wipers wont shut off but thats not a big deal right now. I even got it to turn over so thats encouraging. I still need to figure out the ignition wiring. I need a harness for the motor and that should just about take care of it. I just rebuilt the carb today that was a pain. Hopefully I'll have it running by next weekend. As soon as I get the time I'll start a thread and post some pics.

I have a complete 2.9L wiring harness here in Utah. Where are you at?

I'm up at Hill AFB. I wish the 2.9L harness would do me good but I've got the 2.8L out of a '78 Mustang II which isn't too hard to wire up I'm pretty sure I've got it all done. I made the original 2.9L alternator work and the only wiring problem I had was getting the Ign. Control module wired into the dist. but I found a good diagram and just made my own harness it's even a pretty clean install. Once the cap, rotor, plug wires, and new stator get here I should have it fired up. I pumped some gas into the carb last night and after the rebuild it doesn't spray gas all over the place anymore so thats a good sign. I've got pictures posted up in the members rides section if you want to take a look.
