87 b2 idle problems

Post by Syko »

ive got a 1987 bronco 2 4x4 2.9 with idle problems from when i start it up and drive for about an hour it wants to stay around 1700-2000 rpm.It just started doing this after trying to clean out the intake with some intake cleaner. could the crap in the intake clog something up?? any tips would be helpful thanks..

I would probably start with the intake air control valve. it is a little motor on the side of the intake with 2 wires comming off of it. take it off and clean it good with the carb cleaner. they can stick some times causing what you are describing.

also do you have a check engine light comming on?

if you do go to auto zone and have the codes pulled on your truck. they do it for free and it can help point you in the right direction
71 Bronco - twin sticked, full width, 2" lift, wristed arm, lots of rust...
