will 1986 auto trans work in 1989

I have a 1989 bronco II 4x4 auto trans. 2.9- Trans. went out, I have a 1986 bronco II 4x4 auto parts truck. Will the 86 work in the 89? Both are A4LD. I know that ford made a change around 89, something to do with 3-4 shift. Will I have to change wiring? or just not hook up extra wires? I have read that the 86 is hydralicly controlled. Any help would be great-don't want to install trans and it not work.

You just will not have OD. Or find which wires go to the lockup converter use them change conecters and you would have OD.
