leaf spring mount

Post by bronco2dudenpa83 »

hi everyone, new to the forum. i have a 89 b2 all stock with around 135,000 miles and the vehicle is a northern state vehicle. has anyone had a rear leaf spring mount break or rust out causing breakage? im talking about the mount near the back bumper. from what i gather from pictures and from talking to some people, theres a mount then a shackle which is used to connect the leaf spring to the frame. is this correct? i called ford and the mount is $150 and the shackles are $79. i cant find the mount anywhere else besides for. is this a ford only part or what? any help is appreciated. thanks

shackle mounts

i made mine out of square tubing and three inch angle iron. They are much stronger than stock, alot cheaper, and if you have access to a welder they are pretty easy to fab up. all you need is a little scrapmetal, and you can use measurements off your stock mount. if tou dont feel confortable welding to your frame you can weld the mount to a steel plate and bolt it to the stock position utilizing the four stock holes. as far as the shackles themselves you have to go through Ford. any questions dont hesitate to ask
