Power window gear advice needed!!!
The gear in the passenger side window of my 89 Bronce II went out. I pulled the door apart, and it looks about impossible to get to the motor/gear to fix it. Should I just cut out the sheet metal of the door to get to it?

it aint easy
well i isnt impossible to get out but it isnt easy to get at either .. you will need to remove the glass the arm rail the door lock hardware and anything eltse in the way. after you find a way to snake your arm in to places to unbolt the motor then it is a matter of moving the motor around to remove it . in some cases you can remove the gear with out removing the motor . if you have big arms and hands let your girlfriend or wife have a crack at getting to the motor or some one with small arms and hands try to remove it with your help. in the worst case bring it to an automotive glass shop and im sure that they can fix it for you as some times you will need special tools to get the motor out of the door. Also if you have to you can cut the sheet metal on the inside of the door for a bigger opening to get at it.and the door panel will hide the opening that you cut out on the inside of the door. hope this helps and good luck

There is an excellent thread on this subject on the "How-To Tech Articles & Review" bulleting board at BroncoZone. I added a couple of images myself, including an easy way to get the motor out by drilling three holes to get at the bolts. Check out:

Works like a dream!
Was able to fix the gear in the power window, and it works like a dream. The repaired window is a little slower going up than the other window, but the motor may be slowly dying. But I only need it to last for a year or two, and I think it will do that easily.
Thanks for all the advice, gang!
Next up is replacing the shocks and fixing the driver side door handle (interior). The door won't open from the inside.
