on board air

hey folks. i was in my local free-pick yard (the dump), and ended up finding two cabs from cab-over trucks with air. i ripped into them, and grabbed fittings, lines, switches, etc. i got three pressure switches as well. is there any way to test these, maybe with a multimeter or something, to find out the pressure setting? you can see in the pic they are sequential in size.


i also have a tank, it was a fire extinguisher, and it's probably going under the body, tucked in a frame rail if i can.

i plan to have an arb locker someday, so i grabbed this diff lock switch. it's heavy duty.



i got a throttle cable from a mack. it might not be long enough to run through the dash, so i think i'll have it underhood. i'll hook it up in place of the cruise control linkage - never use it, won't miss it...but if i run it through the dash, i've got farm tractor cruise control!!



so all i need now, is a coulpe of lines made up, and i'm set. guess i need a belt too! i'd like to mount a little control panel under the hood - indicator light, psi gauge, remote throttle. i want to have some quick disconnects as well. one through the grill, and maybe one out back - depending on the 3/8 air brake line i have.

if anyone could tell me how to figure out the pressure setting on those, that would be great.

Using a car battery, ground one switch wire, and attach the other end to a test light and the other end of the test light to 12v. Turn the regulated pressure down to zero on your compressor. Thread the switches to a male quick fitting and plug them into your compressor. Slowly turn the regulator pressure up until the test light turns off, that will let you know what pressure it kicks the pump off.
