ok this may sound stupid but i have no idea on it . on the left exhahst manafold there is a large bolt coming out of a shaft just before the flange what is that there for ,, my guess is for the egr system that the 1988 fbII 2.9 efi did not come with can any one tell me what the bolt is there for
Yes. It sounds like it is (was) for the EGR pipe. The previous owner has likely used the bolt to plug this hole. I used a pipe fitting cap threaded over the stub of my rusted off EGR pipe & glued it with epoxy (works).
