Automatic transmission wiring routing troubles

Post by amberbrush »

As most of you know I put an entirely different engine in my 1988 Bronco II after I could not diagnose the problem. Well, the engine is finally almost hooked up (not much time to work on it since I work all day) but I am having one little problem. There are two wire plugs going to the tranny. The first one is round and has a key shape in the center surrounded by holes for the prongs on the connector. I have found where that one goes. The other wire connector is rectangular shaped black connector that I must have missed when we pulled the first engine and must of came unplugged when the engine was pulled. It doesn't run to far from the other connector which leads me to think it can't be too far from it but I can not find where it goes. I have searched the internet for a diagram with no luck of finding the connector plug locations. Can anyone help me out on this one? It is the A4LD transmission.

i believe you will find it goes to the transfer case , look at the drivers side of the transmission near the output end for the transfer case it should be laying loose somewhere right in there, or at least thats where it was located on the 2.9 in my 89 yes i know they are different years but it should be right in the same general area, it might have even slipped down and be laying on the skid plate under the transfer case but it should be right in that same area, or on top of the transmission right in that area, it should be two loose plugs that slip together....... i believe it is for the lights feeding to the dash indicating 4 high and 4 low....
