3" body lifts

Post by Paul »

ok guys, so how much trouble goes into installing a 3 " body lift, i have an air compressor and a good impact and was wondering, is it something i can do in a couple of days, or is it something i need to have the use of another car for a few days when i start installing it ...... i have in my possesion a 3' body lift for a bronco II and i really want to raise the truck up some, i am saving for a suspension lift but i just cant afford one at the moment (due to the $600.00 plus dollars i spent to bring my daughter in to visit for the summer) ....... the suspension lift will be installed before winter though ...... but i believe for now i plan on installing the body lift, so is it something that can be done in about 8 hours if there is no major problems with getting the old bushings out, or will it require more time, and you should all know i am just now checking on the install, my brother bought the body lift kit for me as an early B-Day present .........

My frame was rotted out under 4 of the 10 spots bushings sat. Could'nt see it until they were removed. Had to fab up some mending plates which obviously took a bit of time. The steering shaft extender took time too.

I'm slow, so it took me almost a week working in the evenings.

ok thats kewl i just wanted to have some general idea, it will be about 2 weeks before i do it, i decided to put the bronco in the shop and have the clutch changed to 4.o clutch and im going to have the tranny gone through and rebuilt, along with transfer case, i have synchronizers crewed in 4th gear and the throwout bearing is rattling so im going to bring them up to match the motor .... so it will be installed after i get it back.
