Fuel Pump Regulator Lines
Fuel Pump Regulator Lines
Ive got an 86 b2 with a 2.9 v6. The fuel pump regulator is located to the right of the fuel injector housing towards the back. It has two fuel lines running into it. The bottom line stays on and gives me no problems....but the top little bastard keeps coming undone. I'll be driving and it just slips off and fuel goes everywhere (fire?). The damn clip that is on there does absolutley nothing. Have any of you had this problem?
i never had that problem from my 2.9 but i have since upgraded to the 4.0 and have not had that problem with it either, you should check to see if the spring is still inside the line at the quick connect end and if not then i recommend replacing the fuel line, the clip is only there as a secondary measure and the line itself is held on by the spring inside the fuel line ... also if the O ring is worn or cut ( flattened on outside) it will cause a loose connection that would or could allow the line to vibrate loose. and it could be possible someone replaced the regulator with another and used the wrong part ... you should check at a local part store to verify its the right one, i know they used 2 different models on the 4.0 and one actually has the top line screwing in to the regulator and the other is a press on line with clip that looks almost identical to 2.9 Liter one.....
but i personally never had that issue with my 2.9 liter motor.
if you have trouble finding fuel lines for it if they are needed then contact me at paulbelden1@sbcglobal.net, i have the one i took off my truck when i switched from the 2.9 to the 4.0 Liter and if you pay shipping i would send them to you at no cost for the lines .... but they might be cheaper to buy if needed than the shipping cost depending on where you are..
