need help trans swap question.

Post by pigmy pony »

So I have swaped the auto for the r5 manual. I dont know exactly how to bypass the neutral start swich an/or the reverse light sensor. there is a little 2 pronged red plug on the side of the tranny but I don't have a plug from the wirering harness to plug it into. The stock tranny had a big round plug for thease things. Any one who has done this please give me an Idea of maybe the color of wires to splice or somthing. I really want to get this thing going this week its been sitting way to long. thank you

Sorry I couldn't post sooner. I don't have one to look at anymore, but as I recall, the big round plug near the frame should have 2 red wires with a blue stripe. That color is your starter circuit. You just needed to jump those together at the plug.

The 2 prong plug on the tranny is for your backup lights.

the swap was not to bad. It did take me a while to do. the best way to do it is to get a donor vehicle so you have the different size drive lines. The only fab I really had to do was cut off the tranny crossbrace brackets, off the frame and move them forward an inch or so but the holes are in the frame, for the new location. So the jobs mosltly just swaping the parts from one to another. hope this helps. :hmmm:
