Replaced now what? fuel problem I think?

Post by Cruff »

Whazzup everyone!!! I would first say this looks like a great site. I've been looking around for about 2 weeks and got alot of info.

Ok 4 weeks ago I got my first Bronco II, a blue 88 2.9, 4x4. It was a bronco II that had been sitting in a ladies yard and had not been running for aleast 1.5 years. I got a steal on it....

In order to get it running I had to replace the fuel pumps (in the tank, and on the frame) I replace the fuel filter, the fuel resivour, and a fuel line. Got started and took it on its first test ride Last saturday. Did great in the woods. And on the highway.

So this morning, I was going to get some tires 32x10.5 on it. While I was going up a good size hill on the highway, it started bogging down. Noticed it was loosing power, but sounded like it was flooding out. Got back up to level ground and it started to run fine. Then I gave it alot of gas, and it wanted to bogg down again. So I turned off on another road an it had a hill on it and it finally died, It would not start in an upword position. So I rolled backwords and it started just fine. I was able to get it back home.

NOW WHAT? It is like when I to give it some good gas it was flooding out. But I did notice the lights was dimming like it was loosing power?

I need to replace the spark plug and wires. I'm thinking of starting there. But i'm maybe thinking coil??? Could it be a vac hose???

thanks for you help!!!

like you said start with a good tune up and what your describing sounds to me like you might have a mass air flow problem like its not sending the right amount of info on air passage to the computer or you might have some injectors that are wanting to dump fuel one thing to look at is see if your check engine light is on and if it is what codes it is pulling
