Not so good clicking noise

Post by greenmachine89 »

Just the other day I drive down a small path and at the end of the path there was a log. I had to put it in low gear to get over it and ever since then I get a huge vibration around 40-45 mph and gets worse the faster I go. Now I thought it was something stuck to the drive line and found nothing. My clutch is needing replaced (slips a little, vibrates when clutch is let out) but I didn't think that that was my problem. I also get a clicking niose when I slow down around 25 mph and stops at 15 mph. Almost like there is something hitting the clutch or something. My u-joints are fine brand new as a matter of fact. What could it be!

Are one of your hubs stuck and not unlocking? Does it feel like it may be a little more sluggish on the road than normal?

Did you drag your driveshft on the log? Bend it maybe? That would account for the vibes. Where is the clicking coming from? It's not unheard of to have new u-joints fail. When the joints were installed, did you make sure grease was pumped thru all of the trunions? Pretty common to have one or more that don't flow grease, vapor lock of some sort.

I have a driveshaft that was banged on a rock. It put a small dent in it and also forced a u joint apart and man did it vibrate and clunk.

Well I hate to say it but when my drive line was installed the bolts were not as tight as they should have been and I lost one and the others were loose. I feel so dumb! As for the clicking noise my clutch pressure plate had a fin bent and was hitting internally. I needed a new clutch anyway! Once I get everything back together I'll give her a good run and see how it all works.
