can you buy a crate 351 or more importantly will it fit in a 84 b2 not wanting any fancy bells or wissles for it

how much would a 351 cost if i can find one new and used

Yes, you can buy crate 351's. Yes they can fit.

Cost...well summitracing has one for $2,300. Used you can pick them up from free on up. Watch the classifieds for people parting out vehicles.

Personally, I'd stick with a nice 5.0L.

the 5.0 and the 5.8 are the same block size and the same mounting so they are basically same engine just more power outa the 5.8 im gonna try and find a f150 that someones parting but most i have seen have been the 283 straight 6

I'm assuming you are talking about the 351W and not the 351C/351M correct?

if you are going to look at a truck motor I would ask that question before you leave the house. the 351C is wider and in my book considered a big block and the 351M/400 is a big block. the 351c and 351M/400 will interchange heads. I have also talked to someone about the W heads can be swapped but I think there is machining involved.

The 5.8W is bit wider and creates some addition clearance problems with the steering column and exhaust. Basically, you have to mount it higher in the engine compartment to make it fit. Also fuel injected truck 5.0/5.8 have a taller intake that creates some clearance problems.
