trans over heating

when im on the e way the trans gets hot and fluid comes out of the bell houseing but never when i drive a round town i lose about 2-3 quarts when i get off the e way any idels what i should check :puke:

do you notice any atf in the coolant or the oil there is a valve that commonly goes bad and the name of it has escaped my mind but if that is the problem then there should be some either in the engine oil or the engine coolant

I had problems with my A4LD (automatic) while going up steep hill climbs. With the truck at such a high angle fluid would come out of the breather on top of the trany. So I put a breather tube on it with a clamp and ran it up into the engine compartment.
