transmission identification ?????

How do I tell these transmissions apart, FM145, TK5 ?

Was there a particular year each was OEM in ?

We have a 1986 parts Ranger with the Mitsubishi FM145 code D.
My sons 84 BII has the Toyo Koygo 4-speed.

I wonder if the The 5-speed version of the Toyo Koygo is stronger than the FM145 ?
