Have you checked the wire that connects to the negative battery cable? it looks like it has a small fusible link on it, (which isn't really a fuse, just a plug). I had the same problem with mine. I replaced both fuel pumps, then all i would hear is the back one turn on. The one under the driver seat ...

Engine starts. While pressing accelerator, truck stalls.
My 1988 Bronco 2 XLT, 2.9L 4x4 Automatic, is having a problem with the acceleration. I can get the truck to start up, but when i press the gas, it sounds like it sucks in a bunch of air and not enough gas, so the RPM gauge shoots down to almost 0. When i release the pedal, the RPM's go up to about 2 ...

So i pulled the starter, and the wires. Gonna replace the cables to the starter and the Pos Battery post. Also going to get a new Solenoid just cause. Checked all the fuses, and they are ok. Hopefully a new starter will fix things. Seem's like it only pops the gear out sometimes.

Hello, I was driving my 1988 Ford Bronco 2 XLT 4x4 2.9L at about 35MPH, when i came to a stop at a light and it stalled. It wouldn't start again after that.
