Broke it wheelin'
yup took the bII out for a maden mudrun and think i broke it. good news is I was able to follow my buddies eb w/ 36" tires through it all. though I had more trouble than he did.... hahaa.... frost is still in in spots, and I came hard out of some ruts sideways, and countersteered to avoid trees, but ...

Re: emissions elimination
Dude, I can tell your pretty uninformed. As I said, MOST vehicles don't reburn from the cat. Meaning they usually have a crossover from the manifold for this purpose, however, some do have a 1/2" pipe that runs from the cat back to the motor. To be honest, I think you stumbled upon the wrong website ...

Re: emissions elimination
aarnwts, Ignorance, something you seem to know well, is making statements you know nothing about. removing a cat from a vehicle, no matter what vehicle will improve gas mileage. I've proven this time and again. Motors are just big air pumps, increase the air in, (and fuel) and decrease the ...

Re: emissions elimination
ya I will keep it on there, I just thought since I need to redo the exhaust(which sounds like could be part of the problem) I would eliminate some of that. the cats will go but o2 will stay. I think I am getting false readings to the o2 sensor causing some loss of power. overall, it runs ok and I ...

Re: 88 Bronco 2 automatic
sounds like a sticky valve in the tranny. if the color and smell of the fluid is ok your probably still ok. I would suggest trying some tranny conditioner additive. I have used with great success, the worst being a car that would not shift from first gear at all once driving. we drained the fluid ...

Re: $800 budget, need new engine or rebuild, help!
ALOT of times the motors on craigslist are still in vehicles being parted out. so you can hear them run, or you could use a compression tester and one of those tools with the little screen and camera and check out the internals of a motor.
Best if you can hear it run though.

Re: emissions elimination
aarnwts, not trying to start a war here, but can tell your from California the brain wash state, If you think that vehicle emisions are so great, Usually they require the use of more fuel, Just look at the desiel world once, I used to run a 7.3 desiel ford, then to a 6.0, and now ford has the 6.4 ...

Re: emissions elimination
I guess I just cant believe the tires i see you guys turning. My 2.9 seems to really struggle to 55 mph and takes for ever to get to the middle rpm range. seems to run ok, but right now I have a pretty crappy exhaust system and it leaks bad right at the manifold. I have intention on repairing when ...

Re: 2.9 Problem (won't Rev!)
Battery testing can be done free at like Napa, or Auto Zone or Advanced Auto.... same with an alternator except you have to remove the alternator ahead of time....

Re: 2.9 Problem (won't Rev!)
You may want to have the battery load tested. if it is weak I have seen where a computer (like in a bII) wont function correcty. I have also seen these batterys take and hold a charge until called upon. if you are confident in your alternator(that can be tested too) I would look hard at your battery ...
