| Does your Jeep
get stuck on high idle? Idle too low? Stall at the worst possible moment?
When was the last time you cleaned that nasty throttle body?
The damn idle problems finally got on my nerves. I assumed
it was some sensor going bad, but after talking to a few friends with
jeeps, I found out that dirty throttle body's are the most common problem.
I didn't feel like pulling the throttle body off and
cleaning it right, so I just went at with some carb cleaner and some rags.
I even carefully used some steel wool on some stubborn spots, but don't
tell anyone.
You'll also want to remove and clean the idle control
solenoid. I cleaned mine about a month before and I didn't take a picture
of how nasty it was. It was quite nasty. Make sure you clean inside the
hole too.
Leave the throttle position sensor alone. If you remove
it, you will need to recalibrate it.
I recommend removing the TB to clean it. Your engine
wouldn't appreciate you dropping something down the intake, and you'll do
a much better job.
Hope it works out, Good Luck! |
