V8 Tcase Options in BII

Post by Dreded »

Ok i was wondering what you all did for a T-Case behind the V8 iv got a Mazda M5R2 Tranny with a BW1356 Tcase and the Tcase is a damn tight fit.

the M5R2 is 31 Spline and since it is currently installed it would be nice to keep it but I could remove it in favour of something else.

iv herd the NP205 should fit but then I need to grind some of the tranny away for linkage and also the 205 is damn heavy and im sure the poor Stock crossmember wont like it.

and last but not least I DO NOT want to buy a $500 dollar adapter :)

I'm kind of in the same boat with my EB. I'm going to put in a 4R70W from an Exploder. It has the round 31 spline output. I'll probably go with the NP205, then if I don't like the low range, I can do the 203/205 doubler.

I'm not crazy about the chain drive cases. Their low range ratios are appealing, but the size is not.

I don't think weight should even be a factor. We're only talking a couple extra burritos at lunch.

the 205 is a stong case. I liked it ok, the low range is not as good but around here there is more need for high range beacause if the type of terain. I have the whole NP435/205 set up that I have been thinking about for the EB but I want to see how I like the D20 first. when it comes down to it I will probably run the D20 but it is always good to have options.

i have a compound low 4 speed with a 205 t-case and 3:73's with the 36' and I feel that I get enough low range that i need. It still crawls pretty darn slow and most times I can leave it in high range and use the comound low without any probs and still goes pretty slow. I also like the solidness that the 205 has when engaged that I didn't feel in any of the chain drives I have used.

I did a C6 and NP205, I made my own crossmember for it that is plenty strong but the NP205 also has a side mount on it to help with the weight. The NP208 is quite a bit too wide, and would take some creative frame mods. I think there is an chain drive BW T-case in some mid 80s trucks that is slightly more narrow.
