the tranny from the LTD will not work in the BII it is a 2wd tranny.
however, because you are carbed from the factory that motor will make your v8 swap easier.

are you wanting to have your BII be 2wd or 4wd?

if it is 4wd and you want it to stay that way you will need a 4wd tranny. the transfer case will not bolt to a 2wd tranny. unless you get a divorced transfer case and then you will probably run out of room for your drive shaft in the rear.

You will need to have a trans shop install a shortened output shaft into your LTD trans that will spline up to your transfercase and the adapter to mate the two. Does the LTD have a C-4 trans? If so then it would be easier to do because the early BII's with autos came with C-3's and they are the same housing with lighter duty internals and that would allow the C-4 to bolt up easier. It is about how much money you have to spend :redneck:
