HELLO.. I HAVE AN 86 B2 4X4 WITH THE A4LD TRANNY AND DEAD ENGINE, AND A 89 B2 2WD WITH THE FM146 TRANNY. BOTH ARE 2.9L..
I CRASHED THE 89, SO I SWAPPED THE ENGINE INTO THE 86 AND SWAPPED OUT THE TRANNY TO MAKE IT A MANUAL 5 SPEED 4X4. EVERYTHING I HAVE READ SAYS IT IS A BOLT ON SWAP FOR THE TRANNY. MY ISSUE IS THAT THE A4LD SHIFTER LINKAGE FOR THE TRANSFER CASE DOES NOT ALLOW THE 4X4 SHIFTER TO SLIDE UP PASSED THE NEUTRAL POSITION WHEN MOUNTED TO THE FM146 MANUAL TRANNY... WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?.. DO I NEED TO CHANGE OR MOD THE LINKAGE?

The A4LD trans has it own unique length of T-case linkage... MAtter of fact, if you look on the shifter arm, you'll see it marked "A4LD"
You need to find the linkage for a manual transmission. I have one, but will only swap it to you for a manual 13-54 shifter linkage (I'll even throw in $25 on top of the linkage if you can find me one)
