set my b2 on fire

Post by label_sk8er16 »

So the other day while i was on my way to work i notices a strange smell, i pulled over to investigate and found the under carriage of my 88 b2 engulfed in flames, The cat was plugged and started glowing orange. The hot cat set a greasy cross member on fire, After battling the blaze with windshield washer fluid i started it back up, it ran fine but now it wont shift out of 1st gear. with no apparent damage to the outside of the trans, i'm not sure what is wrong. :wtf: i don't have much time to tare into it, i was wondering what some possible problems could be.

thanks, Ben.

You never said what type of trans you had a stick or an automatic!

If it is an automatic you could have melted the vacuum hose to the modulator valve. Ya could have cooked a shift solenoid or many other things
