Tranny probs

Post by Trigger_2001 »

There is a grinding sound in my tranny when my clutch is let out on all gears. The tranny guy said it could be the front bearing. Could be costly. anyone have a 5 speed manual for an 88 b2 laying around????

Sounds more like a clutch problem vs. tranny.

I would have to say it sounds like the release bearing, and if you have to replace it you might as well replace the clutch and press plate when you have the trans out.

Wouldn't the front main shaft bearing grind all of the time? I noticed that if you let off the gas in 3rd gear you can't hear the grinding sound.
