only drives in reverse?

Post by billybodank »

I have an 1986 bronco 2 4wd. I picked it up pretty cheap. The only problem is it only drives in reverse. The trannys an automatic, and when I put it into 'drive' the engine just revs. Is this a transmission problem? Could it be the cable connecting the shifter to the tranny? Or what?

I'm not an expert or anything but I would say at least change the ATF and filter and see if that helps any. WHen I got my Bii the tranny slipped a lot, but it would still drive so I changed the fluid and filter and that helped but it still slipped so i put some Lucas stop slip in it and another quart of fluid and it works just fine

Junk the auto for aluminum scrap and convert it to a 5 speed.
It is considerable work and is going to cost about the same as rebuilding the auto,
but mostly all that goes wrong with sticks is a clutch and you can do that yourself in a weekend or less.

Will 30's fit on a stock 88 bronco II without rubbing? Thanks
