voltage regulator

How does the volatage get regulated on the fords? Does it regulate it threw the alternator or does it use an external regulator? and if so where is it and what does it look like? Thanks

Fords have separate voltage regulators whereas GMs have it integrated in the alternator. In the BIIs it would be on the fenderwell.
