Just got finished doing some oil changes and remembered a little trick, punch a hole in the oil filter (hammer and nail) before removing the filter lets it drain, so you don't get oil down your elbow!

Good tip, another is use aluminum foil to direct the oil if needed to keep stuff clean. On my motorcycle the oil filter is above the header so if I don't use foil I have a huge mess.

We used to punch a hole in the oil filters on the garbage trucks we changed oil on. That was a Ton of oil in those filters. Way easier!

Let me add 1 more oil filter tip.
Take a small gallon size trash bag and wrap it over the filter, unscrew the filter and the oil spillage runs into the trash bag.
