Hi working an 84 B2.
I was checking the front bearing as my right wheel was making a slight grinding sound.
Front disc brakes look good.
How do I get the snap ring off after pulling the tires and the automatic 4x4 hubs.
I have tried 3 different type of snap ring pliers.
Suggestions needed.
thanks-Kelly
what trick to get front bearings off?
Re: what trick to get front bearings off?
THe snapring on the end of the axle shaft I always used a pair of needle nose plyers open and then force it to pop the ring off. I hope this makes sense.

thanks
I used a large pair of snap rings pliers from Harbor Freight:
I was trying to get the pliers to work, but every time I opened the pliers larger
one side would move off the snap ring.
I was trying it again and I was lined up on the snap ring. Out of frustration I grabbed
a wood block I had and hammered on top of the plier handles and presto it came off!
All this after 2 trips to sears, 2 different parts stores,
I walked over to the other side less then a minute and the snap ring was off.

Re: what trick to get front bearings off?
Sounds like you got it figured out, but when I did it, I just used two flat head screwdrivers. I held them both with one hand (one on each side) and hit them with the palm of my other hand. Worked just fine
