Reomving Front Driveshaft?

Post by miguel1171 »

Is there a special tool for removing the front driveshaft on a 88' Bronco II???? For the life of me I cannot get a socket on the bolts to remove the straps. The simple problem is that the clerance between the straps and the bolts is next to none. I sure would hate to have to cut them off.....any suggestions?

you have to use the 16 point sockets i think they are... its the ones with alot of smaller teeth inside as apposed to your standard socket. then the spline gear on the transfercase side will slide right out

Well I did it the hard way. I got a 3/8 socket ground down one side so I could get it to fit and after an hour of cursing and yelling it worked. Then I found out it had a star or torx fitting. GEEZ!!!

I guess it helps to actually look at the bolt. Maybe now I can convince the wife I need a lift.
