My wife and I have an 89 BII that is a daily driver, entirely on the interstate. The suspension is crap on it. Should I just change the shocks? If so, what kind should I get? Is there anything special I need to know to change the rear schocks?
Thanks!

How would I check that it's the springs versus the shocks?
The shocks look old... very old. But the springs are nice and rusty as well. How do I check that it's one and not the other, or do I assume both?

If the truck is sitting level side to side and slightly higher in the rear then maybe you do only need shocks. If its not even in height as I mentioned then the springs might be the problem.
If you need shocks only because the springs are fine, then there are so many to choose from it nuts. YOu could go to Sears and get some cheaper ones and get some ok use out of them or get uber exspensive ones for many times more then the cheapies.
I know this is not a real answer, but there are so many variables. Good luck with everything.

You can tell if its the front or back by the way it bounces when you hit a bump. if the back bounces higher of the bouncing lasts longer then the back is bad. same for the front. I would recomend changing the fronts or rears at the same time. if you only change one it will cause you to bounce to the side. which is bad.
also scince its a stock bronco 2 i would just go for the cheapest you can find that will fit.
