Do I really need that that special socket to remove the large nut on the front discs as said in the manual ??? Thanks for the advice. It's a Bronco II 1984 4 x 4

Yup, I had to buy one. I found mine at Napa. You will bugger up the nut if you use a hammer and chisel.

for my manual hubs a big screw driver worked, for my autos ha that was a quick run to the parts store for a socket

very much so and get a quality one the cheap ones are harder to use while torqeing
