sway bars ..... using as oposed to not

Post by Paul »

its come to my attention alot of people say they have unhooked the sway bars on their bronco II for offroading so whats the advantage of them unhooked as compared to hooked up when offroading...... does it just allow more wheel travel and allow the vehicle to stay more flat on unlevel ground, or at least that is my assumption, and how would it afect turning at road speeds, becasue i would think it would be safer to make a quick disconnect using a clevis pin and spring clip or cotter pin so you could reconnect for on road travel...... i use my bronco II for a daily driver right no but i also off road in it, i was just wondering the advantages of them unhooked when off road as compared to hooked up....

i plan on trying to start installing a lift in the next 2 to 3 weeks ...... 4 inches ..... so i would like to know basically the difference it would make for them to be unhooked while 4 wheeling at low speeds.

I took my front sway bar off and through it in the trash and I drove it as a daily drive at the time. I never really noticed a difference on road and I had 7 inches of lift and 34's.
Unbolt the sway bar links from your axle and zip tie the sway bar and the link to your frame on both sides and test it out one weekend. One and off road and see how you like it.
