Stuttering when driving down the road

Post by greenmachine89 »

I have a 89 B2, 2.9, no lift, 5 speed, and an anoying problem. When I get going anywhere it starts an anoying stutter. 25, 35, 55 mph it doesn't seem to matter. It does a stutter that I have never encountered. I replaced the cap, rotor, wires, and spark plug. I have ran seafoam though the fuel lines. It doesn't get worse fast or slow it stays the same. It seemed to go away after I changed the spark plug wires but now is back just like before. I does go away under accleration but returns when I reach the speed limit. This sucks!

have you ever changed the fuel filter? and check the timing, also look for vacuum leaks, as any of those might cause the problem, and also exhaust leaks can create the problem also

i have heard the ecm can make one do that but anytime i have ever had a problem with a ecm it just died as soon as the car would warm up and not run after untill it cooled again.

I have changed the fuel filter just a few days ago as a matter of fact. As for timing I have not done that. As for ECM it could be time for a new one.

Hate to say it but I found two small hoses that had leaks causing the stutter. I couldn't see them because they were covered and did not make the noise that most leaks make. All better!
