exhuast air pump

is this a piece of exuipment that is neccesarry for performance or can this be disconnected it has alot of hoses and crap i know one runs to my cat but dont know if they go anywhere else since i am cutting off cat was wondering if this air pump needs to be running to something or if i can just disconect the hose

If your engine is running ok, I wouldn't mess with it. Problem with emissions stuff, you either have to run it all, or none. I've run both ways, and to be honest, I've never noticed a difference. If you decide to remove it all, you should switch to a duraspark ignition and a non-emissions carb.

Do you have smog testing where you live?

To answer your question, yes you can remove it. It's very likely that your intake manifold is completely plugged with carbon, so your EGR probably isn't working right anyway. You can remove the tube that crosses over behind the engine. Cut the ends off, crimp and fold them over to plug the holes on the exhaust manifold.

my engine runs fine and my egr valve doesent mess up unless i really lay into it then go into nuetral is there anything i can do to remove carbon from intake without pulling it or tearing something up

there are no emmisions testing where i live after december 31st so i dont have to worry about that i just dont wanna buy a new cat the only reason im not gonna reinstall

To clean in the intake, you would have to pull it and chisel out all the carbon. It may be fine, depends on how well your engine has been maintained.

eh that sucks since its my daily driver and i would hate to screw something up i guess with it being carburated there isent to much i could mess up but i would hate to be out of a truck again lol i just got it fixed

i bought an old chevy c10 im gonna rebuilt so i wont get the urges to fix something that aint broke on my bronco so i dont run the risk of killing something
