How do you test the compressor to see if it's functioning correctly?

is it still in the truck? If not you can put your finger over the discharge side and spin the pulley, it should have pressure on it. Rock the pulley back and forth to tell if the bearing is still good. If its still installed you should be able to hook up a gauge to the port and tell if its pumping up

lost texans right if its out of the truck,

if its in the truck, turn on the a/c and jumper the a/c pressure switch and it will turn on the compressor then you can get a accurate freon reading, if it doesn't kick on the a/c clutch is bad or if it turns on and belt spins then the compressor is siezed
