Hello!
Well, my no start saga continues. After new distributor cap, rotor and wires I see spark to the plugs (new also). No start anyway. Flooded engine?
Got a starting fluid, will try that tonight.
Question: when I turn the ignition key to Run, I don't see a "Battery" light. Is it supposed to be there, or 84 didn't have that feature? If it did, maybe my ignition switch is not working properly?
I'm all ready for Duraspark- just need to make sure engine and tranny are okay before investing.
Thanks for your help.
You should try to keep this in the same thread so other readers aren't lost.
Definately give it a shot of starting fluid to rule out a fuel problem.
You know it runs, so that pretty much rules out a major mechanical or compression problem.
If you have a good strong spark at the plug, then you're pretty much looking at a timing problem. Have you messed with the distributor at all? Verify that your plug wires are hooked up in the right order.
Thanks! I'll keep everything in one topic and definately will post follow up.
I did changed distributor cap & rotor and put new wires in the same order they were before. I have a new ignition switch- how do I change that?
Do I have to strip those two pins?
We gonna get around 10 inches of snow tonight and I can't drive my B2
I'm in Central PA and my second job is at paper distribution office. I'm there every night from 2am till 6. Man, I need this truck tonight! But I gave up for today- falling asleep.
No, it didn't even tried to fire. Starting fluid didn't help. I'll check plugs tommorrow and ask somebody to crank it for me so I can see a color of the spark. I think I flooded it pretty bad. How to take care of it?
My list is ready for Duraspark. If I won't get it started by the end of the week- DS will be there. But I also was thinking about sudden loss of compression. Is that possible? I guess I need one more tool. Again, if my plugs are oily tommorrow- then I have a problem?
Couldn't resist- went to check spark plugs- nice and clean, with signs of spark, but... dry!
New fuel filter today. So, it's not plugged. Fuel pump? Carburator?
Question: how are automatic transmissions holding up on 2.8L? I believe mine is C5 (with funky pan).
