One thing that was shown to me by Randy's offroad is that the gas shocks run cooler and don't fade like a oil based shock under heavy load (like bouncy roads). Though I never had a probelm with the Rancho 5000's, I do like my Pro comp gas shocks that I am using now. I also was impressed with the Skyjacker Nitros on my BII while in the dunes and racing down Mt. Pilchuck @ 45+ mph through the pothole section. My 2 cents.
