the question is....is that acceptable patterns? this was my first time setting up gears...i kind of was on a time scale so i didnt take ALL the time i could of but..i did take my time and read a few tech articles... Dbrown over at TRS said it seems acceptable to him....just looking for a few other opions on it...and what those patterns say??
yeah i used the white stuff that came with mine when i first did it...these gears have 4000 miles on them..im just looking at the wear patterns on them.
While the gears "appear" to be wearing fine, the only way to check the actual pattern is to use gear marking compound. Then you can tell exactly what's up.
Edit: I do see something suspicious at the top/toe of the drive side pic.
he is basicly telling you to do the same thing I did over on TRS... if you mark the gears and check the pattern you will get a better read on if you are good or not. I would pull the 3rd since you are down and just recheck everything. it's not a big deal realy, I pulled mine after I went out on a wheelin trip just to make sure I did it right. when it comes down to it you can never be too safe when you are talking about saving money. gears are not that bad priced but when you break them they tend to take other things with them.
