I have a fullsize bronco, 80',and im doing a straight axle swap. its out of a 78' f150. i like the idea of the pivoting arm but this site doesnt show it in use.
id like to here how it works from those who have tried it. pros/ cons .

1st pic with stiff coil's...
2nd pic is with flexier coil's....
Love my wristed are if you want to know more about solid axle swap you can check out www.fullsizebronco.com they have lot's of pic's and info as well as here. it's pretty much the same swap BII and fullsize ttb to solid axle swaps that is.

Pro's: Mad flex from a cheap, easy modification.

Con's: None. With the arm pinned, it performs exactly like a stock radius arm.

IM pretty much sold on your pivot arm. i actually started on it this morning and got my plate cut and tacked in place looking good so far. one question, did you use some kind of bushing where the pivot stud is or what.
im also going to take your idea and add to it by placing a large hyme joint on the end instead of the stock bushings that still bind up all the time. ill show pics when im done. what do you think .

P.S. what springs are you running, james duff pro rates? and what stops the arm from hiting your shock seat when you flex.?

1. Nobody's running Duff coil's not sure about the shock situation.

2. yep just the 1 side. everyone run's them on the passenger side. if you do both they might work against each other. never seen or heard of anyone running them on both sides though. i know that rockcrawler has tried running it on the driverside and ran into problem's with the arm causing pinion bind.hope this help's.

coiled rear with wristed arm on opposite side.... hmmm!!! now that's a thought. anyway sense you have already built 2 sell 1 and grab up a stock arm. :D

if you install 2 wristed arms your axle will fall away from the front end.
I planed on doing the coils in the rear with a wristed arm just to try it after I run the leafs for a season or two. but I also have to finish the truck so it could be awhile..........

i went and made both radius arms not noing i only needed one. ooopps!
no problem though i have a buddy with a 79 fullsize who wont mind the trade for a stock arm :D

oh yeh P. S. if you brake your welding hat go by another one. i toughed it out and ended up with some pretty bad flash burn :mad2: :mad2:

I was just wondering about the wristed radius arms and discovered something, "the dood named matt or NOBODY" looks like his arms r doing pretty freaking good. But the shock mounts on the arm seem to be letting the arm not flex as much. It can move just so far and then it hits the lower eye of the shock. Is it possible to weld the shock mounts onto the peice of the arm, that is conected to the dana 44? Just a thought, but i was wondering if it could maximize your flex with a wristed arm :D

there is a little bind there at the shock mount's but i dont think it's enough to really hold the flex back. i think the shock would brake or bend before that. his flex is sick :puke: and i think much more would be a waist.

I don't think that it would work that well to put it on top of the front piece.....but if you put it on the side of the arm it would probably stop it from binding if it were binding. that being said you would need to make sure that the offset of the rim didn't hit the shock under full turn.

I don't think it's restricting flex. It pretty much maxes out the shock. I've seen some guys mount to the side of the arm. I might try that some day. For the most part, I'm happy as is.
