b2 dana 44 swap

so im swapping a dana 44 in my 87 and im wondering what to do about the front driveshaft. if i get a tom woods do i have to get a new output setup or is there a simpler way to go?

If you get a Tom Woods shaft, they do custom ends to make it work. Last time I was on that site, they gave instructions on how to measure the output of the T-case and the front axle yoke.

ok thanks. but is there no way i could use the stock driveshaft and upgrade to tom woods down the road

Most likely not. The hard part is that the D44 is physically bigger than the old D28. The U-Joints used are bigger on the D44 and the straps are different sized.

ok. i thought that may be the issue. maybe if i had a driveshaft from a old fullsize or f150?

at this point i guess i may as well get a tom woods cause i dont know how my tcase would fit the 44 driveshaft or if a fullsize tcase and driveshaft would work. it gets hectic lol thanks for your help

I am running a 1354 tcase, stock early bronco radius arms and an Olds Bravada front drive shaft fit perfectly.

really?? so would an s10 front driveshaft work as well

I would assume but I don't know anything about chevy stuff. I got the measurement of what I needed and went junkyarding.

I will note that my 1354 case has a fixed front yoke. And I am running m5od trans

ok well mines not a fixed yoke and i want it to be anyway my next question is how much of a lift you got

i have a 1354 with a stock EB front/rear drive shafts...302/c4

I have 4.0, m50d with 1354 and eB axles with stock eB radius arms and 4 inch tj lift coils.

well i must have a 1350 tcase cause i dont have a fixed yoke. im also doing eb 3.5" coils and f150 leafs with blocks which should all give me 6 inches of lift maybe a little more. anyway i could find a 1354 tcase of just do a tom woods

ide look for the 1354...there in all the early explorers and 3.0/4.0 rangers

can i look up the ratios inside them by part numbers? id like it to have the same ratio as the one i have or lower
