Wanting MINIMAL amount of electrical. tearing it all out.

Post by tm2mdfy »

I love my B2 because its been in some sad shape and still got me cross country. Cost me $750 from a tow yard. ( the rental to move would have cost me 950 so the way I see it is I got paid 200 to take the B2 away and then got to keep it.)

Rusted, 4x4 not working, hole in the roof, very slow wipers, no radio, a window that simply fell to the bottom of the door upon driving into my parking space at home and a lingering smell.....but did this stop me?

I hope the picture shows that it did not. I am at a stand still.
I have a bad manual with bad wiring specs that dont even apply to my needs.

I am looking for someone with knowledge on how to take my 86 EB edition B2 2.9l and make it ALL (mostly) manual. When on the trail I dont want to worry about failed electronics. Electronics seem to fail on me constantly.

In the picture you can see that the interior is gutted except the front seats so I can sit while I work.
The dash is out and most of the ducting. I am thinking a modified duct system to keep defrost for visibility purposes is as far as I want to go.

How much harness can go realistically? What modules can go? I want NO accessories.(mostly)
I will have tail lights, head lights-fog lights and wipers. No interior lights with the exception of the light I will be installing with the new cluster.
And a winch.

If you read this before i get pic up correctly... wait a minute...

UPDATE Got some great ideas and have worked through about half of the harness nest that is now my front seat. The trans mod can be eliminated by getting a "Shiftster" manual lever for tcase. Looking into this a little more before i make the change. If anyone has used the shifster I would love a product review.

Also most of the AC is out. Has anyone customized their airboxs?

The pics dont show up. Just a guess, but I would say that you have not made the pictures view-able to public. It might be friends only.

I think I got the privacy removed. Sorry about that. Adding more. Im pretty stoked about the tear down. It just gets me that much closer to the build.
