bad floater in sending unit?

according to my gas gauge and odometer im only getting about 175 miles per tank outa my 1988 2.9l bronco ii. its the gauge because when go to fill up it will only hold about 10 gallons. dont have time to fix the floater right now so what im getting at is how many miles per tank are yall getting?

Carry a gal of gas with you then you'll know. There is a lot of thing to consider, tune up, compression, tire size. So the only way you’ll really know is to run it out.
