GoPro HD Hero2 Camera

Post by Nobody »

I picked up a GoPro Hero2 a week or so ago. I haven't had the chance to get mine out in the snow yet, but I'm looking forward to it! If you're in the market, here's a short article I wrote for snowtrek.org that you might want to check out.

Here is a short test vid I did on the freeway the other day. 1080p 127* POV. Uploaded straight to youtube without any editing.

They say it's 2x better in every way. I believe the old one didn't have the LCD screen on the the front so you had to decode a bunch of beeps and such to know what mode you were in. The Hero2 easy to operate and change modes. I'm looking forward to the Wi-Fi BacPac. Wi-Fi remote control from smart devices, and live streaming video to the web!

The Hero2 also uses the LCD BacPac, but it's really only needed for video playback. The front LCD is only for the menu system. The Wi-Fi BacPac isn't out yet and is only fully supported on the Hero2.

I took it out snow wheeling new years day, but the wheeling wasn't that great, so I didn't bother getting much footage. I haven't had a chance to see if I have anything worth uploading yet.

EBSTEVE uploaded a couple videos made with his new GoPro Hero2 on our trip report here:

You also might be interested in the homemade chest mount I made using the plate from the retail packaging. So if you do get a GoPro, save that part of the package.
