the blk/org wire coming from the alt to the starter silinoid had a black fusible link on it with 2 wires goin in and one coming out.. i tried a 14 and i think a 12 gauge and nothin happened. ( i got these at autozone, one was 1 wire goin in and a mountin ring on one side and the other was one wire in one wire out)

If you look at wiring diagram with ammeter the black 16 GA (fuse link W) runs the rear window washer, wiper and defrost. NEED TO CHECK POWER AT ALT!!!

I know its been a few years but I was wondering if the OP had ever fixed his charging problem. I have the same issue with my 89. It was mentioned to measure voltage at the alternator. Is this to be done with engine running, or not running? Key on or off?

Darn I used to be smart back then. Alt always has power, even with the key off.
