a loud thump 88 xlt b2

Post by robwide »

I have a loud thump when going down the road...well actually it happens most anytime.
when coming to a stop and just after taking off (but not every time) going downhill, uphill.
It shakes the vehicle at times and at other times it is mild.
The trans shifts thru the gears just fine. It's an automatic by the way.
Any ideas?
thanks!

upon further inspection (more driving) it seems to be coming from the drivers side front.
it even actually seems to jerk (not the jerk behind the wheel) the vehicle at times, especially if it is under load.
I'm sure those tidbits of info help!
Thanks
