Looking at a Bronco II,some questions???

Post by THEPATRIOT »

Hello to all!I had a 1984 model about 15 years ago,it had a V6 with a 5 speed.I'm looking at a 1986 with a 2.9V6 with an auto trans.How are these with this engine/trans combo???My plans will be a mild lift and bigger tires(not much).Just a nice little DD/mild offroading.Any input would be great!

the A4LD trannys arent that good. if you go bigger tires,id regear it. if you plan on keeping it look for a 5spd setup

the 2.9 is waaaaaaaaaaay better than the 2.8

will it hold up??? hard saying. it could work good for awhile, then NO forward gears, only reverse, or it starts loosing gears one at a time,or it starts puking oil out the bellhousing

Also make sure that it's not overheating. If you do go ahead and get it, make sure to keep it cool, the 2.9 is prone to cracking the heads.
