89 bII stuck in 4x4 help.

Hi guys first time post, long time reader.

Having some trouble with my automatic 4x4 89 BII eddie bauer, Snowed last week so i put it in 4 wheel now it won't come out
- 4x4 button on dash stays lit pushing it does nothing.
- 4low works just fine clicks in and out just fine
- i know that the front left auto locking hub is almost shot (pops in and out, grinds when under heavy load)
- all fueses are good.

can i just pull the shift motor of the t-case, manualy put it in 2 hi and have it driveable for a fue more months ?

heres the deal, this truck has cancer (rust) BAD, kept her together as long as possible but shes ready for the bone yard just need to get through the winter to buy a Ranger in the spring. Dont get me wrong i love this truck, never left me stranded once for the 10 years i've oned it.
