To those with Early Bronco dana 30's up front

Post by 87xjmike »

How many of yous have done it? Will the strength suffice just fine when combined with our punny powerplants? I'm getting one in two weeks that is absolutley flawless with 4:10's and it has been rebuilt (including the drum brakes), it comes with the eb radius arms, steering, springs, track bar and bracket and the guy is throwing in 4 james duff shocks that are brand new. I'm giving him 200 bucks for all of this. Worth it?

I plan on running it in my 84 2.8l bII, trail rig only and it will sit on 36" hummer tires. I may weld the spider gears up front to lock it on the cheap, keep it open or run a mini spool if they make one for the 30.

What year axle? I found a Dana44 out of an early bronco I switched the outer knuckels off an '79 1/2 ton so I had disc brakes. It's not all hooked up yet but I'm getting there.

The dana 30 axle is from a 1970 EB. I'll also be throwing in a small bearing 9" at the same time.
