84 BII Electrical nightmare need help
ok so i pulled the motor out (2.8) put a clutch kit and some other parts put it back in re connected all the wires and reconnected the battery and the starter solenoid frys in a puff of smoke. i replace the solenoid connect the battery jump in to start it up no power to anything. no dome dash headlights nothing. jumped across the solenoid with a screw driver it cranks dont know if it fires havent checked for power to the fuel pump. but nothing else works so i doubt it.up looking at the wire diagram traced it to the alternator. ok here is where it gets tricky. ok orange black wire from alt to fuse box put it directly to battery lights come on. put the orange and light blue wire direct to power lights come on hook them up to the alternator nothing. pulled the alternator had it check it fail so i figured i fried it along with the solenoid put the new alternator in nothing. i really have no clue. i need help fast this is my daily driver.

Using a test light, just start from the battery and find out where you lose power in the circuit. Check for power at the ignition switch, check all the fuses. and look for any burned or damaged wires, a good place to start is around the fuse box.
FORD....no other has so many acronyms.

Also check the fuel pump by turning the key in the on position and listen for a buzzing noise from the back of the truck. Check all your grounds and in-line fuses. Good luck.
