87 Ranger need to bypass ignition switch

Someone tried to steal my 87 ranger and now the ignition switch is all mangled do to a screwdriver. is there any way i can bypass this buy putting in a toggle switch or push button start or a seperate key switch and if so what wires do i need to use off of the steering column to do so.

I wouldn't suggest bypassing the iginition switch.

Take your key to the pull-a-part. Chances are very good you will find an ignition switch to fit your key. Should get you back on the road cheap. Also price a new one. May not be as bad as you think.

new tumblers arent that bad. i had to put one in my stang once

ok so i got the new ignition switch

i got the new ignition switch how do i take the old one out without a key to turn it to run position or anything or do i not need a key
